Members of Benjamin Logan High School’s Team Portugal received an award for Outstanding Resolution recently at the Ohio Model United Nations competition in Columbus.
Students on Team Portugal included Daniel Meier, Jack Robinson, Colin Headings, Chris Watson, Michaela Wasson and Lily LeVan.
A total of five teams from Ben Logan attended OMUN, a mock United Nations experience that allows students to become delegates of a selected nation in order to write, present and debate issues affecting the nations and peoples of the world. Other Ben Logan teams represented the countries of Lesotho, Cuba, Sweden and Japan.
All teams presented resolutions at the Sunday evening council sessions, and the teams of Sweden and Portugal each had resolutions selected to move on to the next level.
Highlighting the weekend were special awards presented for outstanding participation. Andy Griffith was selected to receive an Outstanding Delegate award and Kessie Rose received the Outstanding Leader award and was the the runner-up in the World Citizenship contest.
