Career center aviation students soar at competition

Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s Aviation students soared to the top in the 2013 Sinclair Tech Prep Showcase competition recently, with the junior and senior teams placing first in the Transportation-Aviation Occupations division.

The students were challenged to identify a problem related to aviation and create a project consisting of research, work-based learning, technical skills and presentation skills.

The senior aviation team of Zach Holbrook, Zach Titus and Jacob Yanscik earned first place for a project, Small Aerial Surveillance Aircraft.

Ohio Hi-Point’s junior team, including Chase Abbey, Chris Buschur and Luke Hawke, took home first place for B-17 Restormation — The Riveteers.

A second senior team of David Tolley, Kelsie Warner and Nate Dove placed second with Private Hybrid Airships
