LITERARY HALLOWEEN TRADITIONS

castle-halloween-1022

Mac-O-Chee Castle, West Liberty, hosted its annual Ghost and Goblins: Literature to Scare and Delight on Saturday. The event included ancient harvest traditions, including throwing a parsley sprig into a bonfire as part of an ancient harvest tradition, as Steve Dillon of Beavercreek does in front page photo; and an interactive telling of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, below, as a maddened Renfield, played by Cody Peterson, searches a box of bugs during a scene. The event, which also included Victorian era autumn games, will be offered again at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. (EXAMINER PHOTOS | REUBEN MEES)
