Participants in the Hi Point Women’s Center Walk For Life bundled up to walk in the brisk weather Sunday at Blue Jacket Park. Walkers included people from five local churches along with several canine companions. Totals from the event will be calculated throughout this week, as several churches will submit funds raised through special offerings Sunday. Funds will help support the operating expenses of the ministry, which has assisted women facing unplanned pregnancies since 1984. Currently, the center is temporarily operating out of First Friends Church after severe storm damage sustained to the office at 110 N. Detroit St. (EXAMINER PHOTO | MANDY LOEHR) |
