Cortney Oakley embraces her brother, U.S. Army Spc. Jerrod Hostetler, who returned home Thursday following a 10-month deployment in the Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, and surprised the Citizens Federal Saving and Loan Association employee at her workplace. Spc. Hostetler, a son of Sandy and Ed Muth of Bellefontaine and the late Neil D. Hostetler, served as a team leader and squad-designated marksman for the Tiffin-based C.CO 148th Infantry, 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team while overseas. The 2007 Bellefontaine High School graduate plans to assume duties with the Russells Point Police Department in late October. His full-time position was made possible via the $111,513 Vets to Cops grant accepted by the village’s council in July that helps provide employment opportunities to veterans. (EXAMINER PHOTO | T.J.
