Larry Pool Sr. of Pool’s Paving uses his trackhoe Friday morning to level the former apartment house at 222-224 W. Sandusky Ave. Built about 1930, the house is one of three owned by First Lutheran Church that are being razed. Also coming down are the structures at 228 W. Sandusky Ave. and 208- 210 N. Elm St. Pastor Jon Bull said the properties were purchased during the 1990s with funds provided by the church-affiliated New Life Charitable Foundation. The last tenant vacated the premises April 1, Pastor Bull noted, and immediate plans are to turn the site into a parking lot. The additional property also opens possibilities for any future church expansion projects, he said. (EXAMINER PHOTO | T.J. HUBBARD)
