Jimmie Phelps of Columbus, left, helps Treyten Lapcevich, 7, of Ontario, Canada, check the air pressure of his tires on his quarter-midget car Friday at West Liberty Lions Park during preparations for the National Race for Kids today and Sunday hosted by the Mac-O-Chee Quarter Midget Racing Club. More than 200 cars from across the country are expected for the events, with practice, heats and lower main feature races beginning at 9 a.m. today and A-main features beginning at noon Sunday. There is no charge for admission to the “Generation Next” National Series event sanctioned by the United States Auto Club located in Indianapolis. The Mac-O-Chee Club is also partnering with USAC to help give back to the community by accepting canned goods for donation to food pantries in Logan and Champaign counties.
