Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 3:40 p.m. Monday to a two-vehicle injury crash on U.S. Route 68 near Township Road 219 just north of the city limits. Deanna L. Herford, 44, of Belle Center, was transported by Bellefontaine EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for non-incapacitating injuries. Deputies report Dalton M. Peters, 18, of Bellefontaine, was northbound on U.S. 68 (in above vehicle) when he struck the rear of Ms. Herford’s northbound Jeep, which had stopped for traffic. Mr. Peters, who was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead, did not report any injuries. Damage was heavy to both vehicles, and both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Deputies were assisted by the Bellefontaine Police Department. Numerous crashes have been reported on Logan County roads in conjunction with the first snow of the season.
