Volunteers pitch in for Indian Lake spring cleaning

Additional work day scheduled for Saturday

Volunteers from the Indian Lake Development Corporation, Indian Lake State Park employees and Honda GO associates from Honda of America Mfg. kicked off spring cleaning around the parks at Indian Lake April 13.

An additional volunteer clean up day is set for Saturday, April 21, for the Old Field Beach area and Blackhawk shelter house and boat ramp area. For those interested in participating, they are asked to meet at 9:15 a.m. at the north shelter house at Old Field Beach, with work continuing until at least 1 p.m.

Organizers said the goal is to spruce up these areas in time for Earth Day, which is Sunday.

April 13, clean up activities took place during the morning and afternoon at Fox Island and Post Office Island. Volunteers accomplished shoreline cleaning, flower bed weeding, spreading of river rock, tree edging, tree mulching and general sprucing up of the two islands.
