Wendell Pfeiffer, 66, of Florida, was issued a felony weapons charge during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon in the area of state routes 274 and 235.

Officers of the Washington Township Police Department working traffic in the Indian Lake school zone about 2:45 p.m. stopped his vehicle for an equipment violation.

Upon making contact with the driver, officers noticed Pfeiffer was trying to hide something from the center console of the vehicle. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle and a search was conducted.

Located inside the center console of the vehicle was a loaded 9-mm handgun with one round in the chamber, officers report.

A criminal history check revealed the defendant was a convicted felon. He was lodged into the Logan County Jail.

• Driver Sean Wiles, 50, and his passenger, Wendy Littleton, 51, both of Tennessee, each was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop on U.S. Route 33 near Township Road 95 about 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers reportedly stopped Wiles’ pickup for a marked lanes violation. Upon making contact with the driver, a consent search was conducted. Officers located prescription pills that were not prescribed to either occupant and also found a meth pipe.

Wiles and Littleton were placed under arrest and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
