Lezlie Brunson, 39, of 616 Hilltop Drive, Bellefontaine, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a crash about 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report she was operating a southbound sport utility vehicle on County Road 130 just south of County Road 91 when she drove off the right side of the road into the ditch, struck a utility pole and then a road sign. Her vehicle then continued into a field.

Damage was heavy to the vehicle, which was towed from the scene.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they observed that the driver displayed signs of intoxication. She reportedly refused to submit to field sobriety tests.

Bellefontaine EMS personnel also responded to the scene.

Brunson reported she was not injured.

Deputies said Brunson was placed in a cruiser, and she soon fell asleep. She was transported to the Logan County Jail, where she refused to take a chemical test and also attempted to make physical contact with deputies and corrections officers.

Deputies advised her family members who came to the jail that she would need to remain incarcerated for a short time because of her level of impairment. She also was cited for failure to control.
