Jamie Engle, 44, of Bellefontaine, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during a traffic stop just before midnight Wednesday.
Officers of the Russells Point Police Department on patrol noticed a vehicle fail to signal while making turns on Main Street and State Route 708 and initiated the stop.
Signs of intoxication were observed from the defendant. Engle was asked to perform standard field sobriety tests, which he failed.
He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail. While enroute to the jail, he reportedly fell asleep in the rear seat of the patrol car. At the jail, Engle submitted to a breath test, which resulted in 0.092 blood alcohol content level.
He also was cited for failure to signal and was released to a sober driver. His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded at the Russells Point Police Impound.
