Indian Lake Schools’ Board of Education stripped the interim tag from its superintendent Tuesday in a regular meeting and approved a five-year superintendent contract for Rob Underwood, following an executive session to finalize terms of contract.
The five-year contract pays Mr. Underwood $111,000 per year with scheduled two percent pay raises effective Aug. 1 through July 31, 2023.
With the move, the school district will realize some measure of cost savings. Former superintendent Pat O’Donnell was paid $124,000 per year before he was fired for sexual offenses against a minor child.
By state law, the school board had until March 1 to either renew or non-renew Mr. Underwood’s previous one-year, interim contract.
Mr. Underwood said he is “humbled” and “honored” to have received a five-year contract from the board. The contract finalizes Mr. Underwood’s position as the head of the school district where he did his student teaching while in college at Ohio Northern University.
