Darla Williams, 64, of 234 E. Harrison St., Lot E3, Lakeview, was charged with a misdemeanor count of child endangering related to an incident at her home Monday afternoon.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to her home about 12:15 p.m. to speak with Williams about a fraud complaint. Deputies said when they arrived and knocked at the door, it took the reporting party awhile to answer the door.

Williams eventually answered the door and said she was the one who had called in a fraud complaint. Deputies stepped inside her enclosed porch and observed a heavy odor of burnt marijuana there and as they continued walking through her residence.

When questioned about the marijuana, Williams claimed that a friend had been at the residence before deputies arrived, and said he had been smoking. She would not identify the friend.

A 1-year-old child was at the home at the time of the incident, and the boy’s father came to pick him up. Williams was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
