Newly elected Ridgemont Board of Education member Paige Wallace, along with incumbent Corey Ledley, were administered oaths of office for their terms during the board’s Thursday evening organizational meeting.
The board also elected Eric Hill as president for 2018, and Ledley as vice president. Treasurer Fred Reinemeyer administered the oaths of office for these roles as well.
School administrators thanked board members, including Cheryl France and Jerry Turner, for their service in recognition of Ohio School Boards Appreciation Month.
“This school would not be at the level it is without their support and dedication to the education of our students,” administrators said in a release.
In operational matters during the regular meeting that followed, members approved the open enrollment policy and dates. Last year, the district moved up the open enrollment dates to provide a better sense of their student rosters prior to the beginning of the next school year.
Parents interested in open enrollment are reminded the enrollment period is from Feb. 1 to May 4.
Students currently open enrolled in the district will have new applications mailed home to them the last week in January. New open enrollment applications can be picked up at the school starting Feb. 1, and applications will be on the school Web site.
Ridgemont will strictly enforce the deadline for the 2018-19 school year, officials said.
Members also approved the purchase of a maintenance truck from Nelson Auto Group LLC at a total cost of $29,284.
An agreement also was approved to work in coordination with the Hardin County Emergency Management Agency to share resources in the event of an emergency.
District officials also note that a previously scheduled two-hour delay for Tuesday, Feb. 27, has been canceled.
