Man lodged on warrant

MILLER ROBERT

MILLER

Robert M. Miller, 28, of 228 N. Madriver St., was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for theft.

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were patrolling the downtown area and spotted him on bicycle. He was stopped around 11:20 p.m. as part of an investigation into a criminal incident more than 20 minutes prior.

He was taken to the Logan County Jail where a corrections officer found a hypodermic needle partially loaded with suboxone. He reportedly told officers he did not have illegal drugs on him when he was arrested in the 100 block of east Sandusky Avenue.

Pending the outcome of laboratory analysis, Miller could be charged with possession of drug abuse instruments, possession of a controlled substance and illegal conveyance of drugs into a jail.

In the earlier incident, Joseph Robinson, 1020 N. Main St., reported a male suspect wearing a sweatshirt and a ski-mask came to his door around 10:55 p.m. Tuesday demanding money.

The suspect allegedly lifted his sweatshirt exposing an apparent handgun stuck in his waistband.

Robinson refused and the suspect ran off.

Other than Miller’s appearance, officers did not report finding any other link to the Robinson robbery attempt.

Motorist charged with OVI

Jeffrey S. Laslo, 54, of 212 Ward St., was charged Monday with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was cited for improper backing.

Around 9:05 p.m., an officer observed him back a pickup truck into the path of the officer’s southbound cruiser on Lawrence Street at Jay Avenue.

The officer slowed to avoid a collision and watched as the motorist proceeded westbound on Jay. He then observed the pickup sideswipe a parked vehicle.

Upon contact with Laslo, the officer detected an odor of alcohol.

Field sobriety tests indicated he was impaired but he refused to submit breathalyzer samples.

He was released to a sober friend.
