Driver Narda C. Delacruz, 30, and her passenger, Milagro Delacruz, 9, both of Grantsboro, N.C., each was transported by Huntsville squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries sustained in a crash about 5:55 p.m. Tuesday.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Delacruz was operating a northbound car on State Route 117 near State Route 366 when a northbound sport utility vehicle operated by John Norton, 73, of Dayton, attempted to make a U-turn in front of her. Delacruz attempted to avoid the crash by traveling partially into the southbound lane. However, her car struck the front wheel of the SUV.

Norton did not report any injuries, and he was cited for an improper U-turn. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene. The occupants were wearing their seat belts.
