Child rapist given 10 years in prison

JOHN WALKER JR.

An admitted rapist was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison.

Assigned Logan County Common Pleas Judge Mark S. O’Connor imposed the sentence on John Walker Jr., 63, formerly of Bowling Green, and classified him as a Tier III sex offender.

The defendant was arrested a year ago after a then 15-year-old victim told Lucas County authorities of forced sexual relations with the suspect while she was living in the Rushsylvania area between June 2011 and June 2013.

He originally was charged with seven counts of rape and three counts of GSI.

In exchange for the plea, the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office agreed to drop eight charges and agreed to a mandatory 10-year sentence.

The convicted rapist will have to register as a Tier III sex offender which requires notification every 90 days for life.
