Two of five suspects in Jeffrey A. Brentlinger’s murder appeared today before Bellefontaine Municipal Court Judge Ann E. Beck and both were returned to jail under $500,000 bonds.

Marquevous E. Watkins, 21, of Lima, is charged with murder and robbery, while Alexus Walton, 19, also of Lima, is charged of complicity to commit murder and complicity to commit robbery.

Three other Lima residents, Zachariah A. Huddleston, 22, Jasmine D. Lewis, 17, and Tatianna Freeman, 17, also face charges of complicity to commit murder and complicity to commit robbery.

Mr. Huddleston and Jasmine were arrested Sunday in Gary, Ind., while the other three were picked up in Lima on Monday.

Ms. Walton mother wondered aloud in the courtroom Monday whether or not the the suspect would have been charged if she was a cab driver of an Uber driver.

She will be represented by attorney Steven Fansler, while the alleged shooter will be represented by attorney Marc Triplett. Both attorneys were appointed.

Mr. Brentlinger, 45, was found dead of a gunshot wound at about 11 a.m. Thanksgiving day by his daughter, Kelsie Brentlinger, who lives with him at the residence.

She said in a call to sheriff dispatchers that she had been away from the 6498 Township Road 127, Zanesfield, home overnight and returned to find her father “unresponsive in a pool of blood.” The door to the home was standing open; lights were left on; and there was mud on the floor, Ms. Brentlinger told the dispatcher.

It was not clear how long Mr. Brentlinger had been dead and the daughter said she had last seen her father Wednesday evening.
