Attendees gather at the Make A Shelter, Help A Shelter event Saturday nearby the intersection of south Main Street and Lake Avenue in the city to bid on 44 different shelters of all shapes and sizes, including birdhouses. The auction raised more than $1,600 to benefit the Lighthouse Emergency Shelter, 107 S. Main Street, that is operated by the Logan County Homeless Shelter Board of Directors. Organizers report that the highest bid item was a backyard playhouse created and donated by members of Philadelphia Lutheran Church that sold for $1,000.
