UPDATE: Officer injured during investigation

An officer of the Russells Point Police Department was evaluated at Mary Rutan Hospital for a foot injury sustained during an investigation into a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the vicinity of Maple Street shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses told police an intoxicated male was yelling at children he accused of setting off fireworks. Officers then found Ryan Crabtree, 23, of Warren Avenue, in a verbal altercation with a woman. He was ordered to back away several times before officers approached him. He then tried to punch one of the officers, forcing a Taser deployment.
During the struggle, Sgt. Chad Fenwick sustained an injury to his foot. The extent of the injury is unknown, but it is not thought to be serious, Chief Joe Freyhof reported.
Mr. Crabtree was transported to the Logan County Jail on assault charges. Washington Township Police and Indian Lake EMS assisted at the scene.
