MECHANICSBURG — Champaign County Sheriff’s deputies are seeking tips that may lead them to identifying two suspects who reportedly forced their way into a rural Mechanicsburg home Wednesday morning.
Melissa Rader, 33, of 8635 Hunt-Clymer Road, reported about 10:30 a.m. that two men in a light blue Chevrolet Lumina pulled into her driveway and began talking to her. When the victim tried to enter her house, the men forced their way inside the home, with one of the suspects reportedly wielding a firearm.
According to reports, after they’d forced their way inside, the suspects locked the woman in a closet and searched the residence before leaving the property.
Mrs. Rader was not injured. She reportedly notified deputies as soon as she heard the vehicle leave.
A search of the area failed to turn up the suspects. Anyone with information about the suspects is encouraged to contact the Champaign County sheriff's deputies, 484-6091.
