Quincy Village Council members approved a finance agreement to purchase a backhoe during a recent regular meeting.
The cost of the 1997 machine is $28,500. The village will finance $25,000 at 5 percent interest for five years, council reports.
The village’s previous backhoe was ruled a total loss following an April 4 accident in which a train struck the loader, operated by administrator Kirk Helmandollar, as it attempted to cross the railroad tracks in Quincy.
