Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the residence of Cheryl R. Crissinger, 165 State Route 720, Lakeview, about 4 p.m. Friday in reference to a theft.

She reported that her neighbor observed a vehicle park by her residence and then saw suspects from the vehicle take a rocking chair from her front porch.

Deputies contacted the registered owner of the vehicle, who reported that his nephew, Mr. Whitt, had used the vehicle.

When questioned by deputies, Mr. Whitt said his grandmother had given him money to complete a school project involving making a rocking chair. He did not complete the project, and so he and Mr. Slavin reportedly drove around the area looking for a rocking chair, which was supposed to be a gift for Mr. Whitt’s grandmother.

They allegedly took the rocking chair from Ms. Crissinger’s residence and then transported it to Mr. Slavin’s house to paint it.

They were arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail.
