At the hospital, he reportedly was uncooperative and tried twice to hit a nurse treating his wounds, resulting in the use of physical restraints.
Police were called just before midnight and he was taken to jail, where he again became combative and was placed in a restraint chair for his own safety.
Police investigate Friday crashes
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department responded to two non-injury crashes Friday that resulted in citations for two drivers.
The first was a minor crash just before 3 p.m. at Park Street and Columbus Avenue, where a vehicle driven by Bryn Daring-Stewart, 31, of Bellefontaine, backed up from a stop sign on Park and struck a car behind her operated by Kimberly S. Mahoy, 49, of Bellefontaine.
Damage was light to both cars and Mrs. Daring-Stewart was cited for improper backing.
• Both vehicles in a 5 p.m. crash at north Main Street and the eastbound exit ramp of U.S. Route 33 had to be towed from the scene.
Reports indicate a car driven by Edward R. McCracken, 55, of Woodstock, pulled from the ramp stop sign into the path of a southbound vehicle operated by Abby M. Alexander, 29, of Bellefontaine.
A Bellefontaine squad also responded, but was not used.
