LoCoSheriff-star

Keith A. Brantley, 26, of 12058 State Route 720, Lakeview, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, speed and failure to control following a crash Sunday evening.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and personnel with the Lakeview Fire Department and Indian Lake squad were dispatched to the area of County Road 54 near County Road 52 about 11:05 p.m. in reference to the crash.

Mr. Brantley reportedly had been operating a northbound vehicle that drove off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, and then went off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they located the vehicle, but the driver had left the scene.

Then a short time later, the driver’s father stopped by and told deputies that his son walked home from the crash.

Deputies went to his address and spoke with the driver, who said he had been using his cellular phone at the time of the crash. He also reported he had been driving about 70 mph.

Mr. Brantley reported possible injuries, but refused treatment. Deputies noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person.
