A lifelong love of books instilled by her father at a young age has culminated in the first publication for local octogenarian Leota Stevenson, whose 92 pages of observations and poetry, Explorations in Thought, was recently released by Publish America.
Mrs. Stevenson, of Uniopolis, and formerly of Russells Point, was born in Detroit and lost her mother at the age of two. She was raised in California by her father into her early teens, when he remarried, and his interest in books, world affairs and education spilled over to the young Leota.
The family returned to Detroit and Mrs. Stevenson later moved out west, where she resided until her retirement to Indian Lake to be closer to her children.
