Man charged in shoplifting

Kelly Stover, 28, of 312 N. Detroit St., was charged with theft Tuesday after he tried to return a stolen flag.

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report he was detained at Wal-Mart, 2281 S. Main St., around 7:10 p.m.

Store staff observed him stuff a $40 U.S. flag in his pants and leave the store to evade detention at that time.

He returned a short time later, asking for a refund.
