Man jailed over store dispute

Darin Cook, 47, of 704 N. Main St., was charged with assault and menacing Monday after he cussed at store employees, slapped a manager and threatened to harm him around 2:55 p.m. Monday at Staples, 2250 S. Main St.

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department stopped the suspect as he was driving north on Ludlow Road at Spring Avenue.

He reportedly entered the business shirtless and began demanding a refund of his money.

The manager gave him $12.50 for the items and the suspect claimed he paid more for the merchandise.

He slapped the manager’s hand and vowed to return to beat him.

The defendant was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
