SIDNEY — Officers of the Sidney Police Department report that a Sidney man was arrested Sunday following an armed robbery at the City Carryout, 132 N. Ohio Ave.
Brett A. Copeland, 23, of Pomeroy Ave., was charged with one count of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and was lodged in the Shelby County Jail.
About 10:40 a.m., a clerk working in the business was confronted by the suspect who was concealing his identity by wearing a sweat jacket and bandana over his face. Mr. Copeland was in possession of a knife and demanded money from the clerk.
However, the clerk was armed with a handgun, and ordered the suspect to the ground. The defendant complied and was detained on the floor until officers arrived.
In addition, officers are working to identify a second individual involved in the robbery, who reportedly was waiting in a parked vehicle nearby.
Officers continue to investigate this robbery as having a possible connection to several other recent robberies in Sidney and Piqua. Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call the police department at 498-2351.
