WAPAKONETA — Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon reported today that a Lima man who has been taken into custody in Allen County is suspected of being involved in recent house burglaries in Auglaize, Allen, Logan and Shelby counties.
Mark Ball, 51, was arrested by Allen County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives this week.
Detectives and patrol deputies from each of the counties had been working together to locate a suspect on a rash of house burglaries in the four-county area. To date, there have been approximately 15 reported burglaries in a period of three to four weeks.
With the arrest of the defendant, several similarities were produced, including a similar description obtained by victims who were home while their house was entered in Auglaize County. Auglaize County detectives had distributed the suspect description to area agencies.
“We have been out in force for over two weeks trying to catch who was responsible for these burglaries,” Sheriff Solomon said. “Numerous man hours have been spent patrolling the county. This is a great break in the case and it will help put the residents at ease.
“We also want to thank residents in all counties for their assistance in this investigation.”
The suspect is currently being held in the Allen County Correctional Center. The investigation continues.
