The Ridgemont Board of Education accepted at a special meeting Wednesday evening a two-year contract with the Ridgemont Education Association.

According to the agreement, teachers will receive a 1.75 percent raise for both the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years. Both the board and association also picked up an increased cost in insurance.

Regarding classified staff, members voted to pass along the same benefits, including the 1.75 percent raise, for the next two years.

In personnel matters, the board extended one-year contracts to new hires Adam Baumgartner, high school science, and Kim Hawk, high school technology integration.

Supplemental contracts also were issued to the following individuals: Adam Baumgartner, assistant baseball; Ben Nauman, assistant football; Rachel Gernert, district test coordinator; and extended days for guidance and family consumer science, Rachel Gernert and Shellie Dye, respectively.

The first day of school for students is Aug. 18. Staff will be back Aug. 15, and they will visit the construction site for the new pre-K through 12 building near Mt. Victory, Superintendent Emmy Beeson said.

The next meeting is 5 p.m. Aug. 28 in the high school library.
