Michael D. Huffman, 53, of 125 Rush St., Rushsylvania, was charged with domestic violence and resisting arrest Sunday afternoon.
Deputies responded to his address about 4:20 p.m. to serve him a warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of domestic violence.
They observed Mr. Huffman asleep inside the residence on a sofa.
He reportedly tried to hide, and then deputies report that a pitbull came to the front door and started lunging at them.
Mr. Huffman’s mother, Donna L. Huffman, 72, of that address, pulled the dog out of the way and spoke with deputies. She said that her son had threatened her and told her not to answer the door.
She also said she is fearful of him when he has been drinking.
After a brief struggle with deputies, the defendant was placed under arrest and was transported to the jail.
