Uptick in thefts reported

Residents in the village of Quincy should be on high alert for suspicious activity.

Doug Mitchell, deputy from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, told village council during its most recent regular meeting that several thefts had recently been reported in the village, and residents should be observant of suspicious persons and/or activity.

The deputy also told council that several warnings were issued around the fourth of July holiday concerning the illegal use of fireworks in the village.

The Joint Sewer Board has contracted with Burch Hydro out of Fredricktown to take the remaining sludge from the plant to the landfill at a cost of $2,200. Additionally, a back flow valve will need to be repaired at a cost of $550.
