Josefina Smith, 73, and her passenger, Herschel Smith, 87, both of DeGraff, each was transported by squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for injuries sustained in a crash about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Ms. Smith was operating a westbound car on State Route 47 just east of Township Road 46 when she drove left of center and struck an eastbound pickup nearly head-on.
The other vehicle was operated by Jared E. Thompson, 37, of DeGraff. He did not report any injuries. His passenger, Joseph Mullins, 31, of DeGraff, reported possible injuries, but was not transported.
Mrs. Smith reportedly sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was transported by Robinaugh squad to the hospital. Mr. Smith sustained incapacitating injuries and was transported by Bellefontaine squad.
Damage was heavy to both vehicles. Ms. Smith was cited for driving left of center.
