An elderly man was arrested for persistent disorderly conduct and for carrying a loaded gun in his car following a traffic stop that occurred about 8:30 p.m. Friday at the parking lot of Tim Horton’s, 514 S. Main St.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report Gerald Munn, 80, of Bellefontaine, was en route to confront his stepson, who’d been the subject of a disagreement between the suspect and his wife earlier Friday.
Mr. Munn’s wife reportedly telephoned the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and reported that she had left the house to pick up supper, and when she returned her husband was gone and a firearm was also missing from the residence.
Patrolling officers observed the suspect’s vehicle traveling in the 500 block of south Main Street and initiated the traffic stop.
A search of Mr. Munn’s vehicle turned up a loaded firearm.
He was charged with persistent disorderly conduct and carrying a concealed weapon and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
