Two people were arrested after a 12:40 a.m. traffic stop Sunday.
Theodore E. Dickens Jr., 44, of 501 Gunntown Road, Apt. 89, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, criminal damaging, resisting arrest and persistent disorderly conduct while Holly R. Miller, 42, of the same address, was charged with obstructing official business, persistent disorderly conduct and two counts of resisting arrest.
The male suspect also was cited for failure to drive in the marked lanes of the road, speeding, fictitious license plates, no operator’s license and a permit violation.
An officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department spotted a pickup truck eastbound in the 300 block of Gunntown Road, traveling at 53 mph and over the center yellow lines.
Field sobriety tests indicated the motorist was intoxicated, police reported.
When the officer told him he was under arrest, the motorist began to resist and struggled with the officer. The female passenger exited the pickup and joined in the fray.
The officer pushed the motorist down and into his cruiser after the suspect turned on him. With the motorist handcuffed on the ground, the officer quickly handcuffed the female and was able to gain control of the two until other officers arrived.
Both were taken to the Logan County Jail.
