Downtown Business Association: CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DAY

DBA CustAppr

Downtown business owners are throwing their doors open wide Friday for a day of sales, giveaways, refreshments and live entertainment.

The Downtown Business Association’s second annual Customer Appreciation Day will kick off as stores open for business that day, but the events will focus on the lunch hour and into the afternoon.

Among the highlights are free hot dogs and refreshments at Citizens Federal Savings and Loan, popcorn and cotton candy at Alan Galvez Insurance, snow cones at Belle Printing and goodie bags at the Main Street Marketplace while Tonya’s Main Street Deli will offer free cupcakes for patrons along with a pulled pork sandwich special. At Sweet Aromas, musician Michael Fittro will have a selection of live music.

“It’s going to be a great day to walk around downtown and see what the businesses have to offer,” Lock Shop Salon owner and DBA promoter Micki Martin said. “I saw a lot of new people at last year’s event and now they are regulars downtown. I hope we see some more new faces this year.”

Downtown insurance agent Alan Galvez, who has been one of the driving forces behind the DBA in its reorganization in recent years, said he is excited that this year’s event coincides with several new store openings and other improvements throughout downtown.

“Just look at what’s happened in the last five years,” he said. “There have been a lot of improvements some people may not be aware of. It seems to me we are on a big upswing.”
