Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office handled three injury crashes Thursday afternoon and Friday on State Route 235, which include the following:
• Amanda Heath, 24, of Bellefontaine, was transported by CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton following a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on S.R. 235 at County Road 255.
Deputies report Ms. Heath was southbound on S.R. 235 about 4:25 p.m. and stopped to make a left turn when her pickup was struck from the rear by a tractor-trailer.
The semi's driver, Bret Davidson, 27, of Quincy, was not injured.
He was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
Quincy Fire and EMS and Rosewood EMS assisted deputies.
The drivers each were wearing seat belts. Damage to the pickup was disabling.
• Christopher R. Scott, 40, of DeGraff, was transported by MedFlight helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for injuries sustained in a motorcycle and horse and buggy crash Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Scott reportedly was operating a northbound motorcycle on S.R. 235 just north of State Route 47 about 3:50 p.m. when he attempted to pass a horse and buggy operated by Henry Wagler, 16, of DeGraff. The buggy then made a turn and failed to signal, and Mr. Scott braked to try to avoid striking the buggy. His motorcycle reportedly slid on the ground between the horse and buggy.
The buggy operator, his passenger and the horse did not sustain any injuries. Henry was cited for making an improper turn.
Riverside EMS, Indian Lake EMS and the DeGraff Fire Department also responded to the scene. Deputies continue to investigate the crash.
• James D. Kandel, 54, of DeGraff, was transported by Riverside EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash at 5 a.m. Friday.
Mr. Kandel was operating a southbound motorcycle on S.R.235 just north of Township Road 243 when his vehicle was
struck by a northbound vehicle operated by Heidi Taylor, 53, of Huntsville.
Ms. Taylor did not report any injuries. Deputies continue to investigate the crash, and no citations have yet been issued.
• Also Friday, deputies cited Lakeview area resident Brooke Sherwood, 17, for failure to control and speeding following a one-car crash on County Road 54 south of County Road 52.
Deputies report Ms. Sherwood was southbound on C.R. 54 about 8 a.m. when she lost control. The car then went off the left side of the road, struck a ditch and came to rest in a field.
The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, did not report any injuries.
