BELLEFONTAINE BEAT: Several face thefts charges

Scott D. Parmer, 42, of 608 Charles Ave., was charged Saturday with theft, criminal trespassing and taking the identity of another.

He was in Wal-Mart, 2281 S. Main St., removed a digital video disc player from a box and concealed it under his shirt.

He was stopped trying to leave the store, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department reported.

He gave officers his brother’s name when he was arrested around 8:50 p.m. His brother, a truck driver who was out of town, looked online and noticed his name with the brother’s face on the Logan County Jail roster and contacted authorities to correct the error.

While in jail, officers served him with two warrants for failure to appear.

• Joey Hines, 30, of 215 S. Springhill St., was charged Friday with theft.

He reportedly entered an office at Burger King, 2005 S. Main St., where he works and took $310 from a cashier drawer in an open safe.

A manager confronted the suspect while on the way out of the office.

Officers convinced him to turn over the money.

He was fired from his job, police report.

• Brian S. Mickley, 43, of 317 S. Detroit St., Apt. 102, was charged Friday with theft.

He reportedly left Dollar General, 338 E. Columbus Ave., with a pair of women’s panties and a bra.

Three lodged on intoxication charges

Kara R. Wills, 30, of 440 Colton Ave., was arrested around 2:20 a.m. Sunday for public intoxication in the 100 block of west High Avenue.

She was knocking on doors in an effort to get in and got in an unlocked pickup truck and blew its horn, waking residents in the area.

She was lodged in jail.

• Edward A. McCoy, 26, of 816 Cooper Ave., was charged Sunday with public intoxication.

He was observed around 1:15 a.m. staggering while trying to walk southbound in the 100 block of north Detroit Street.

He was lodged in jail.

• Ray B. Beach, 34, of 8160 Shelby Drive, Russells Point, was charged Friday with public intoxication.

He was found around 11 p.m., face down in the hallway of an apartment complex at 509 S. Detroit St. He was found with his pants down, exposing his buttocks.

He was lodged in jail.

Man violates CPO

Roger Stiles Jr., 31, of 600 W. Columbus Ave., was arrested Sunday for violating a civil protection order. He reportedly showed up at Jeannie Shoffner’s 505 S. Detroit St., Apt. 7, residence around 1:30 a.m.

He knocked on the door and covered the peep hole with his hand. Even so, the babysitter opened the door and the suspect stuck his foot between the door and the jam.

Ms. Shoffner soon arrived and the police were called to the scene.

The suspect was apprehended and lodged in jail.

Woman says bank card drained

Morgan Young, 121 W. Brown Ave., reported Saturday someone gained access to her bank account debit card and charged purchases on the card, draining her account.

• Jay and Michelle Monteith reported Monday a hunter green 2004 Honda TRX400 all-terrain vehicle was stolen from the rear of their 708 E. Columbus Ave. residence.

• Charles Anderson of Bellefontaine reported Saturday a named male suspect threatened to harm the victim if he did not turn over all of his cash.

Police tried to locate the suspect. They continued to investigate.

Warrant served

Damon J. Sims, 45, of Sidney, was served a warrant for failure to file and/or pay city income tax over the weekend.
