Distinguished Alumni Awards to be presented
Bellefontaine High School graduates the Class of 2014 during commencement exercises slated for 4 p.m. Sunday at Dodd Stadium.
D. Fred Burton of Bellefontaine is the featured speaker for the ceremony, during which he also will be honored among the three 2014 BHS Distinguished Alumni recipients.
The other award recipients this year are Arthur E. “Gene” Marine and Mark A. Notestine.
The Distinguished Alumni award honors “alumni whose actions and achievements, whether in their professional life or human service to community bring honor and distinction to the academic heritage of Bellefontaine High School.” Criteria for nomination include at least 10 years since graduation from the school and a demonstration of “significant success in the professional arena or significant contribution in service to community, state or nation.”
Coordinated by the Academic Boosters Club, the selection process began in the fall with acceptance of nominations and the submission of completed applications. A committee of administrators, teachers, students and community members were involved in the final selection.
