In addition to regular monthly housekeeping, the Logan County Board of Elections discussed acquisition of a high speed absentee ballot scanner with the Logan County Commissioners at this week’s meeting.
Director Lucinda Holycross said, knowing the cost of a new machine could run $40,000 to $50,000, officials are looking at purchasing a used model for $8,000 from Cuyahoga County, which has 15 units to sell after purchasing newer models.
With the growing popularity of absentee voting, Mrs. Holycross said the scanner would eliminate the need for time-consuming hand counting by employees.
