West Liberty-Salem school board Tuesday in a regular meeting authorized the advertisement for bids for up to three new school buses, and approved the creation of an intervention specialist position.
The three 78-passenger conventional school buses, if purchased, would be paid for from permanent improvement funds, according to the board.
As for the new intervention specialist job, that position is being created as a result of an increase in special education students at WL-Salem schools, the board reports.
The new intervention specialist position will be shared between the elementary and middle schools.
Board members also approved a 30-day notice to dissolve its contract with Mary Rutan Hospital for an athletic trainer, and OK’d a five-year agreement with Excel Sports Medicine to supply athletic training services effective Aug. 1 at no cost to the district.
Also approved were resignations from Alyssa Raterman, middle school volleyball coach, and Jennifer Peterson, assistant volleyball coach for the 2014-15 school year.
