Daniel F. Slaven, 34, of 918 County Road 21, DeGraff, was charged with felony theft and misdemeanor theft Tuesday relating to an investigation into a theft from his father, Kenneth Slaven, of the same address.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office received a theft report April 15 from the defendant’s father, who reported that a chainsaw was missing from his residence.
Also April 15, two new bicycles that Kenneth had purchased for his grandchildren were stolen from 24 N. County Road 24, DeGraff.
During deputies’ investigation, the bicycles were recovered from Wal-Mart in Piqua. Video surveillance was reviewed at the store of the suspect, who reportedly had returned the bicycles in exchange for cash.
Daniel also admitted to taking the chainsaw from his father and selling it at a pawn shop in Dayton. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
