Myeerah Nature Preserve opens for public use

Local outdoor enthusiasts as well as educators looking for firsthand ways to expose students to the environment will have a new option after this weekend’s official opening of the Myeerah Nature Preserve.

The 450-acre nature preserve, formerly the Camp Myeerah located at 7405 State Route 540 near West Mansfield, became a part of the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District after being purchased from the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio.

The purchase was made possible by a partnership between the city, the Tri-Moraine Audubon Society and the Trust for Public Land.
