Gregory W. Smith, 61, of 1955 State Route 508, West Liberty, was issued a summons for failure to confine a dog Wednesday.
Deputies received a report about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday from his neighbor, Debby Wilson, 6327 County Road 187, West Liberty.
She said her neighbor’s dog had come onto her property that morning and entered a chicken pen. When she went out to the chicken pen, the dog fled the property.
Ms. Wilson reported that one chicken had died during the attack, and two other chickens had sustained severe injuries and likely would not survive.
Deputies then went to Mr. Smith’s residence, and noted that one dog on the property matched a description that Ms. Wilson had provided. He was issued the summons.
In September, deputies also issued Mr. Smith a summons for three counts of failure to confine a dog relating to another incident where his dogs harmed Ms. Wilson’s chickens.
