New Knoxville man charged with vehicular homicide

SIDNEY — A New Knoxville man has been charged with vehicular homicide, a second degree misdemeanor, following the investigation into a crash in Shelby County where his pickup struck and killed a bicyclist.

The driver, Richard Kuck, 72, is scheduled to appear in Sidney Municipal Court at a later date.

Deputies of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office report Mr. Kuck was operating a westbound pickup about 7:40 p.m. March 18 on Lock Two Road near Kettlersville Road. His pickup struck a westbound bicycle operated by Zachary Kerns, 16, of Botkins, as previously reported in the Examiner.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Kuck stated he did not see the bicyclist on the road because the sun was in his eyes.
