Woman injured after vehicle struck by semi

Amber Lawson, 32, of Bellefontaine, was transported by CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton for non-lifethreatening injuries sustained in a semi tractor-trailer and car crash late Tuesday.

Troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report she was eastbound in sport utility vehicle on U.S. Route 33 about 10:30 p.m. when she attempted to make a left turn onto County Road 57 and was struck from behind by an eastbound semi.

The semi was operated by J.D. Lowry, 56, of Cloverdale, Ind. He did not report any injuries.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Huntsville Fire and EMS and a Bellefontaine engine and squad also responded to the scene.

Mr. Lowry was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
