Motion to reduce fair board directors turned down

Vote conducted by paper ballot

Logan County Fair Board members Wednesday in a regular meeting rejected a motion that would have reduced the number of fair board members.

Currently, there are 27 fair board members. Wednesday’s proposal was designed to get an up-or-down vote on whether or not the board is even interested in reducing its numbers.

In a vote conducted by paper ballot, senior fair board directors voted 13-8 to keep its current number of directors at 27. The vote was an effort to prevent any hurt feelings, the board said.

Four board seats are currently vacant. Board president Skip Jackson said Wednesday those vacancies won’t be considered until closer to fair week.
