Justin D. Stidam, 19, of 4676 County Road 55, Bellefontaine, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, underage consumption, and was cited for driving under suspension, no registration, failure to control, leaving the scene of a crash and no seat belt following a crash about 3:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating an eastbound vehicle on County Road 43 at Township Road 33 when he drove off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned several times. The vehicle landed on its wheels, and the driver reportedly left the scene on T.R. 33.
A traffic stop was initiated near Township Road 200, and deputies matched the vehicle with a number of vehicle parts left at the scene of the crash. The vehicle had sustained heavy damage, with all of the windows either missing or broken, the exhaust dragging on the ground, the right front tire shredded and right passenger side of the vehicle crushed.
Personnel from Macochee EMS responded and treated the driver at the scene for minor visible injuries.
Field sobriety tests were administered, and Mr. Stidam was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he tested a 0.104 blood alcohol content level.
